Entries are open to the sixth edition of the ‘Artefici del nostro tempo’ (Creators of our time) competition, aimed at young artists who can interpret the theme ‘Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective’, proposed by the Architecture Biennale 2025.
The competition is open to the following artistic disciplines: Street Art (graffiti, graphics and communication public space, street furniture design); Glass (glass works); Image (photography and video in all techniques and materials); Work (painting and sculpture with all techniques and materials); Narration (illustration, visual poetry with all techniques and materials that relate text and images).
‘Artefici del nostro tempo’ selects 10 works for each of the five categories, created individually or by a collective of artists. The first prize winners in each category will be exhibited at the Venice Pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale, in conjunction with the 19th Architecture Biennale 2025 to be held in Venice from 10 May to 23 November.
The works will be integrated with the project of the IUAV University of Venice, which will curate the Pavilion by recalling the Biennale theme with the title ‘Biblioteche. Costruire l’intelligenza veneziana – Libraries. Building Venetian intelligence’
The remaining selected works, from second to tenth place, will be exhibited at Pavilion 29 in Forte Marghera, Mestre, from June to December 2025.
The first three works classified in each artistic category will receive a cash prize; a special cash prize may be awarded to those artists who, although not winners in their discipline, nevertheless distinguished themselves and were particularly appreciated by the jury.
There will be two special prizes consisting of artist residencies to be assigned to two artists (or collectives) considered worthy, according to the unquestionable judgement of the Competition Organising Committee, of having best represented the theme of the Biennale and the Venice Pavilion. The artist residencies will be held at the space for cultural production of the Emeroteca dell’Arte in Via Poerio in Mestre and will be assigned at a time and manner that will be communicated later.
Participation to the contest is free of charge.
