The open call Artefici del nostro tempo – Creators of our time is back again this year, dedicated to young artists under 35.
For this seventh edition, artists are invited to interpret and draw inspiration from the curatorial concept of Koyo Kouoh, curator of the 61st Art Exhibition La Biennale, In Minor Keys.
The ‘Artefici del nostro tempo’ competition is open to the following artistic disciplines:
- Painting;
- Video Art and photography;
- Sculpture and glass design;
- Public art and street art.
The works submitted must be unpublished, original, the brainchild of the artists, all executed after 1 January 2024.
Prizes
The jury will select 10 pieces of art from each of the four disciplinary fields.
The works ranked first in each category will be exhibited at the Venice Pavilion in the Giardini della Biennale, alongside the 61st Art Exhibition La Biennale. These works will form part of the Venice Pavilion’s curatorial project.
The remaining selected works, ranked from second to tenth, will be exhibited at the Casermetta in Forte Marghera, Mestre, from June to September 2026 and published in the exhibition catalogue.
A cash prize will be awarded to the top three works in each artistic category: first prize 5,000 euro, second prize 3,000 euro, third prize 1,000 euro.
In addition, at the sole and unquestionable discretion of the competition’s Organizing Committee, two artists (or collectives) deemed particularly deserving will be selected to take part in artist residencies at the cultural production space of the Emeroteca dell’Arte.
Participation in the call is free of charge. Applications must be submitted by 12:00 noon on March 1 by completing the appropriate online form on the Municipality of Venice website.
