ACTIVE ITINERARY
Guided itinerary to the exhibition
The exhibition hosted at the Candiani Cultural Centre in Mestre recounts the fascinating development of abstract art from its birth to contemporary times, through forty works by great artists conserved in the collections of Ca’ Pesaro, including some exceptional works by the father of abstract art, Wassily Kandinsky.
The thematic itinerary allows visitors to explore the impressive exhibition, which, in addition to Kandinsky’s masterpieces, includes works by Klee, Miró, Ernst, Tàpies, Arp and Calder, and then looks beyond the Second World War to Abstract Expressionism and the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, then Vedova, Deluigi, Tancredi and on to the sculptures of Basaldella, Chillida, Minguzzi and De Toffoli. It ends with the minimalist work of Nonas and Mangold.
Target: first and second-grade secondary schools, universities
Duration: 1h 30min
VIRTUAL TOUR
The virtual tour
The visit to the exhibition on Kandinsky and the avant-gardes at the Candiani can also be organised in a virtual tour version, and can take place either remotely or directly in the classroom, with an educator.
Target: first and second-grade secondary schools, universities
Duration: 1h
WORKSHOPS
Trans-form with music and colours
Direct observation of some of Kandinsky’s masterpieces in the exhibition, and in particular of ‘White Zig-Zags’, provides an excellent starting point for an active workshop in which the children, after having familiarised themselves with geometric shapes, lines and colours, can try their hand at a true ‘collective’ artistic performance in which the individual shapes, transferred into the space of a long white sheet, become the protagonists of new figures and new stories. The activity lends itself to deepening topological concepts relating to shapes, but also to an understanding and knowledge of colour.
Target: pre-school (medium and senior), primary school
Duration: 2h
Observe, experiment, paint!
After a visit to selected highlights of the exhibition, we will focus on the works of Kandinsky, Klee and De Luigi. The students, guided by music, will develop a personal artistic experimentation using different techniques and materials in a multi-sensory experience.
Target: first and second-grade secondary schools (two-year)
Duration: 2h

Sculpture towards Minimalism
A multisensory path through the exhibition
The visit includes a tactile exploration of some masterpieces by Jean Arp, Mirko Basaldella, Eduardo Chillida, Luciano Minguzzi and Bruno De Toffoli, whose sculptures bear witness to the persistence of the dialogue between abstraction and biomorphism in the 1950s. The experience, enriched also by pieces of music, concludes with a haptic analysis of minimalist works by Richard Nonas and Julia Mangold.
Duration: 1h 30min
