Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 2026: free admission for the opening weekend
A new museum for Mestre
Mestre is preparing to welcome a new space dedicated to contemporary art: MUVEC – Casa delle Contemporaneità, the new museum of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, is about to open.
The project, developed in collaboration with the City Administration, takes shape through a major transformation of the spaces of the Candiani Cultural Centre.
An in‑depth architectural and conceptual redesign has redefined functions, visitor routes and the museum’s mission, giving life to an autonomous, recognisable institution, open to dialogue with the present, accessible and contemporary.
To mark the opening, on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00, admission to the museum will be free for all visitors.
Afterwards, access will be subject to the standard ticketing system.
The museum extends over two floors and hosts a permanent collection dedicated to art from 1948 to today, together with an area for temporary exhibitions and spaces for educational activities and workshops, with the ambition of becoming a new reference point for contemporary culture in Mestre and across the metropolitan area.
The Casa delle Contemporaneità has been conceived as an inclusive place, open to different generations and audiences: particular care is devoted to wall texts and labels, areas designed for younger visitors and tools that encourage active public participation.
