Since 2016 the exhibition rooms in Centro Culturale Candiani in the centre of Mestre have housed a series of projects curated especially by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.

With the creation of the Premio Mestre di Pittura award, since 2018 Fondazione MUVE has been promoting and valorising contemporary painting in synergy with the Metropolitan City area. Established in 1958 in Mestre but abandoned at the end of the sixties, its participants included extraordinary protagonists in the field of painting in the Veneto twentieth century: today Centro Candiani has rediscovered its home and mission, and hosts the finalists’ works.
Established in 2019 by the city council administration, the competition Creators of our time is focussing its attention on young up and coming artists whose works can be found in diverse museums and exhibitions in Venice and on the mainland. For the first time, Centro Culturale Candiani hosted the winners’ works for each competition category.
